Immediate Enrollment for Little Sisters Throughout the East Valley

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central AZ (BBBSAZ) matches youth in our community with caring adult mentors “Bigs” who offer encouragement and support so that each of our youth “Littles” can reach their full potential. At any given time, we have nearly 200 Little Brothers waiting to be Matched with a Big, mostly in the West Valley and Mesa area. On the other hand, there are several pockets of the North and East Valley with more Big Sisters than Little Sisters. Girls who live in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe, Chandler or Gilbert will be immediately enrolled into BBBSAZ and matched with a Big Sister.

Who are our Littles? Our Littles are between the ages of 6-18, however, we do not typically enroll youth older than 15. Youth can stay in our program until they graduate from high school. We serve many children with varying degrees of need. All children enrolled in our program want to be in our program and look forward to meeting with their Big!

The role of the Big is to be a positive role model to a child in need. Bigs provide encouragement and advice, academic support if needed and they are someone their Little can trust and count on. Our Bigs come from diverse backgrounds and experiences but they all share a desire to make a difference in the life of a child.

Match outings never have to be expensive or elaborate activities, it is really about spending quality time together. Match outings are planned together around common likes and interests. The Big and the Little may ride bikes together, go get ice cream, spend time at a coffee shop, or check out a museum.

Our matches are consistently monitored by a dedicated Program Specialist. The Program Specialist’s role is to check in on the match, addressing any concerns and providing ongoing support.
